Lifeguard hours and Blue Flag beaches
Ballito & North Coast
KwaDukuza Municipality lifeguards patrol the main Ballito area beaches, with extra staff on duty during peak season. Over the 2025/26 festive season lifeguards worked daily from 6am to 6pm, although hours can be shorter at quieter times of year. Willard Beach in Ballito, Thompson's Bay, Salt Rock Main and Blythedale all held Blue Flag status for 2025/26, a sign of good water quality, safety and facilities.
Insider tip: Out of season, check the times posted at the lifeguard tower rather than assuming the beach is guarded all day.
