Umdloti's large natural tidal pool is sheltered by a reef, so the water stays calm even when the surf is up, and a lifeguard tower sits right beside it. The clear water makes it one of the best easy snorkelling spots near Ballito, and restaurants across the road make a full day of it easy.
Insider tip: Go around low tide on a calm, sunny morning for the clearest water and pack your own mask and snorkel, as there is no hire on the beach.
