Durban's historic racecourse, where racing dates back to 1844, is home to the Hollywoodbets Durban July, Africa's best-known horse race, held on the first Saturday of July. The floodlit 2,800 m turf track encircles the Royal Durban Golf Club, and regular race meetings run through the year.
